Raipur- As the local authority are grappling to curb the spread of deadly corona disease, out-break of jaundice in many localities of state capital in becoming nightmare for the officials. Till date city has reported over 700 cases of jaundice and worse hit localities are Pandri and Mowa.

As per report in span of three day, nearly 152 patients were reported to be admitted to district hospital following jaundice, out which 122 were cured. The residents of Pandri and Mowa on April 24, logged complaint with Raipur Municipal Corporation regarding broken drinking water pipelines  in their respective areas. But, the officials overlooked the issue and kept their focus on tackling spread of corona. They kept on making false promises that soon the pipeline and supply of clean water  will be restored, but till date nothing has been done in this regard.

Speaking on the issue, RMC mayor Sunil Soni confessed that officials are aware about spread of jaundice in Pandri, Mowa, Purani Basti and Amapara localities. To overcome the situation RMC has  constituted team headed by zonal commissioner and all repair works of pipelines are being monitored by the team members.

It may be mention that in month of November (2019), Raipur held 5th spot in the Water Quality Report of the state capitals by Union Ministry of Consumer Affair, Food and Public Distribution. But following  burden of extra manpower for carona drive, it seems officials  are not paying attention  to filter plant hygiene and repair works of broken water supply pipelines in State Capital.
